Romans 1:16"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation!"
Newsletter - February 2010
Greetings in Jesus Precious Name, to all our Friends and Supporters
Just a quick reminder of the letter of December 2009: God is so good, and we praise Him for His continued faithfulness in 2009 and we look forward to amazing things in 2010. This year is going to be a different year in many ways. I will soon be making the trip to India. It is strange to be going without Evelyn leading the way. Due to poor health she cannot make it physically this time, but as always we know that her heart will be with her family in India. Our flight is scheduled for January 4th and returning on the 30th. The meetings and appointments will keep us busy travelling and ministering daily.
Now for February - 2010 News: Praise the name of Jesus! I, Faith, have just returned from a 22-day and 43 meeting tour of India, visiting Vishakhaputnam, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry, as well as Kerala. My heart is on fire, and my prayer is that there will be those who, like in Acts 16:6-13, will hear the Macedonia call: “Come over and help us!”
Sadly, Sister Evelyn was unable to make the trip this year, due to her health. But she was with us all the way in her prayers and in her thoughts. However, God sent along a great ambassador in her place. We would like to express our gratitude to **Richard Brochu, missionary to Dominican Republic, Haiti and Cuba, and a sponsor of Gospel of Christ Outreach, for accompanying me to India. It was an answer to prayer to have his support and help. We wish also to express our thanks to Christer, director of GCO in India, who was our constant companion, as well as our interpreter and driver.
During our ministerial tour, we visited our Seniors' Home, run by Mungama, whom we support regularly. Presently they are in a rented building. We were happy to learn that they were able to find and purchase land, and are starting to build. They look forward to the expansion. Pipes have been donated for water, but they need a pump.
It is so encouraging for the twenty pastors that GCO is supporting, to have a personal visit, and to know we are interested in their progress. On the final day of meetings in Vijayawada and Rajahmundry, we had a pastors' meeting of the two areas. What a blessing to see that eighteen pastors had come! They gave testimony of the blessings that had occurred in the recent meetings. One pastor suffering from kidney problems received strength and healing to attend the meetings. Each of the pastors testified how much the meetings had encouraged their believers, and how many had renewed their faith. They were happy to report also, that new believers had been added to their churches, and new believers asked to be baptized. They reported several healings, and of how a man with severe back pain was miraculously healed. One of Dr. Tilak’s patients received healing of Malaria, and with tears streaming down his face, he expressed his heart’s desire to be used more greatly by the Lord.
A very touching demonstration of their thanks for all the support given through the years, and as an acknowledgement of their appreciation, on that last evening, the pastors covered Richard and myself with a shawl, flower petals and a garland, and topped it off with a gift. How precious!
One sad note I have to report: One of our faithful soldiers, A.I. Markose, passed away a few days after we left Kerala.
1. We want to acknowledge that finances have come in to buy the pastors bikes. A bike is a very useful tool in the ministry in India, not only for the pastor but his helpers. When I was in one of the villages and we had to wait for directions to the church, the pastor came running to guide us. It brought back the realization that "before we call, He answers."
2. I was reminded again of the need for a sewing school. For approximately $1000/month, we can train up the young girls and help them to start their own business.
3. I want to mention that the building in Chilakaluripet is sitting empty. It is in need of repairs, and the Indian government is urging that it be turned over to another organization. It would be good if we could use it even for a few children.
4. Of our 20 pastors, eight do not have a building or are renting, to do the work of the Lord. My heart is overwhelmed by the needs and the willingness to do the work no matter what the difficulty.
God truly was our strength and gave us the words to minister in each meeting. We covered a large territory, and so many miraculous things happened. These people are doing the work faithfully with the tools they have. Can we come as Aaron and Hur and lift up their hands in the battle? Proverbs 29:18 - "Where there is no vision, the people perish!" May God give us a vision. If you should find it in your heart to help in any way, I know the rewards are eternal.
Other ministries that we visited while there: Rev. Hallelujah Israel, who hosted us when we first arrived in India: His website:Village Evangelization Mission Pastor G. Silas Satyam **Richard Brochu's website: Evangelistic Ministry to the Dominican Republic {Luz a las Naciones Ministries}
May the Lord richly bless you!
In His Service, Faith Splane and Evelyn
